SUMMARY

Provide services in Mechanical Engineering for projects to include design, development, and project completion under the direction and guidance of a Senior Engineer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct surveys to gather field data.

  2. Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include design, load calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.

  3. Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids.

  4. Coordinate mechanical design requirements and constraints with other design professionals including Architects, Structural Engineers, and Electrical Engineers.

  5. Prepare technical compliance documentation required for submission.

  6. Produce engineering documents for compliance with engineering standards, defined design criteria, contract requirements and applicable codes.

  7. Coordinate computerized engineering models for hand-off to fabrication planners.

  8. Maintain document records for assigned projects.

  9. Review and approve equipment submittals and shop drawings.

  10. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Produce design for estimate documents as directed by Senior Engineer.

  2. Coordinate the activities of the design with the requirements of the construction teams.

  3. Resolve project issues, scope changes, and field questions.

  4. Maintain a safe work environment and encourage safety of others, especially when present at construction sites.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Familiarization with applicable federal, state and local building codes and safety laws.

  2. Working knowledge of CAD tools and energy modeling programs. 

  3. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering and three to five years of related engineering experience or equivalent experience as Mechanical Designer.

  4. Experience with HVAC load calculation methods, duct design, piping design, plumbing design, energy modeling, equipment selection, temperature controls, acoustics, and other areas of mechanical construction.

  5. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

  6. Work requires occasional travel to attend meetings, site visits, and inspections.

  7. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normally in an office environment but do include some activities at new construction job sites and within existing facilities.  Work requires occasional travel.
